# Staking Asset

**$VOLA is the staking currency of Vola Network.**

Before a node can participate in the network, whether producing blocks or storing files, its operator must stake $VOLA as collateral. This aligns the incentives of node operators with the health and reliability of the network.

Staking is a deposit, locked while the node is active and returned when the operator exits cleanly.

### Who Stakes $VOLA

**Node Operators**

Operators stake $VOLA to register and activate their nodes. The staking requirement differs by node type: Validation Nodes require a fixed bond of 5,000–10,000 $VOLA, while Storage Node requirements scale with the storage capacity committed.

**Delegators**

$VOLA holders who don't want to run hardware can delegate their tokens to an existing Storage Node. Delegators share in the node's rewards proportionally to their contribution, and can undelegate at any time, subject to the lock period.

# Agent Instructions: Querying This Documentation

If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://wp.vola.network/docs/usdvola-token-economy/usdvola-utility/staking-asset.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
